SITE UPDATE 18.05.2001
Dear friend

Firstly, good news about Foot and Mouth disease. Having had no new outbreaks yesterday, it looks like the worst is past and now about 90% of the footpaths in Derbyshire are to be reopened in time for next Friday. According to the Derby Evening Telegraph, almost all the footpaths in Derbyshire are to be reopened, except those closest to infected areas and in fields where pigs are being kept. This sounds eminently sensible and should provide relief for many businesses in the area which have been hit hard by the outbreak.

Secondly, we have reorganised the web site a little. The old "benefit gigs" section is replaced by a general events guide - click here. There are also a couple more off-site links - thanks and keep 'em coming!

And lastly, we have had a donation of a sketch done by local artist Jane Hodgson, to auction off for site funds. You can see a copy of it if you click here. If anybody wishes to bid for this item, please e-mail us at nineladies@zoom.co.uk with your bid. We don't yet have a proper online auction facility (though we're working on it - either we'll use one of the existing auction sites, or write our own in Perl), but in the meantime there is still the message board which can be used for posting bids. So who wants to make us an opening offer?

That's it for now,
The Nine Ladies Web Site Team
