SITE UPDATE 11.10.2000

The following e-mail was received from David Challender today:

TO:Nine Ladies List
SUBJECT:FW: Guided 6.5 mile walk including Stanton Moor

Derbyshire Countryside Service & Peak National Park rangers have a guided [10.1km] walk arranged to "discover the secrets of Stanton Moor".

Meet: Peak Rail Rowsley South car park.
Sunday October 29th 11:00-16:00
Info: Middleton Top Visitor Centre 01629 823204
Adults 1 quid, concessions 50p.

Dont know how informative it will be, what areas covered (but there is a contact number), normally these organised walks are quite good & informative, but numbers are usually limited & booking required. Might be useful for people who want a good look around the area (without the worry of getting lost), in addition the car park is probably easy for folks to find (lets face it , if folk go by car it can be easy to think you have missed the site).

May be a good introduction to the area for those who have never visited. Also could be worth contacting the people doing the walk to see if they will mention the threat to the area & so help raise the profile of the campaign with walk attendees who may be unaware of quarrying threats.

We have also appeared on Central News! We hoped to bring you a video clip but we're still getting to grips with the software ;-) In the meantime, you can download just the sound by clicking here (You'll need an MP3 player such as WinAmp or mpg123). The clip is 400kB long and lasts 1'41".

Back soon,
