SITE UPDATE 05.11.2000
Dear friend
Sorry this mailing is late - we have been experiencing problems at our end in Derby and have not been
able to access the Internet. These difficulties have now been resolved. Greetings to the new members who
unfortunately didn't get their confirmation e-mails - but if you got this then you're on the list!
Re the public meeting of 27 October: The document of 18th August has been adopted as official
Peak Park planning policy. We hope to have a copy of this document available shortly, but the gist of it
seems to be towards persuading quarrying companies to exchange minerals permissions around Stanton Moor for
less environmentally sensitive areas.
English Heritage have arrived on site and are said to be "Alright on the surface - but we
can't tell if there's anything sinister underneath". Temporary fences have been erected around the stones
while the trench is being cut, and a security guard is reportedly being paid £160 a night for the job of
sitting in a Portakabin and watching to make sure no stray sheep find their way into the trench!
There have also been reports of some spooky goings-on, with weird activities and things going bump
in the night ..... and things mysteriously moving around the kitchen! Any budding ghost hunters and X-files
fans are welcome to come and have a look around.
Watch this space for details of a project involving
the Big Issue.
The weather on site is worsening and it is getting very cold. We are desperately seeking donations
of "warm things" - blankets, firewood and thermal underwear! If you want to make a donation,
please contact site directly - their mobile number is on the web site. Don't e-mail us as we can't get it to
them any quicker.
Hope you all had an enjoyable Samhain and are having a cracking bonfire,
The Nine Ladies Web Site Team
