Getting to the Camp Site

The National Grid reference for the site is SK247634

FROM DERBY

BY BUS: Catch the R61 or TransPeak (both TRENT) to Rowsley (Peacock Hotel). Turn left following the sign for Stanton-in-Peak. (It's up a 1-in-4 hill). Keep following this road until you reach a junction, then take the first exit left (more like straight on), which is signposted Stanton Lees. Carry on past a phone box, and on and on and on ..... the site entrance is on your right and may have a vehicle parked near to it.

BY TRAIN: Catch the train to Matlock and proceed from there.

There are now two Millstone Grit boulders marking the entrance, also a column with a smaller, older boulder. The path leads towards an old barn, but the camp site is above the path on your right hand side before you get to the barn - just shout!

FROM MATLOCK

Catch the Wensley/Winster/Bakewell bus and get off at Stanton in Peak. Take the road which is signposted Stanton Lees. Keep following this road; it will merge with the Rowsley road and you will reach the site before you reach the village of Stanton Lees.
FROM NOTTINGHAM

BY BUS: Catch the TransPeak (TRENT), which originates from Nottingham before calling at Derby. Get off at Rowsley (Peacock Hotel) and proceed as from Derby.
FROM MANCHESTER

BY BUS: Catch the TransPeak (TRENT - destination DERBY) to Rowsley (Peacock Hotel). From then on proceed as from Derby, but remember you have entered Rowsley from the other end so the Stanton-in-Peak turning will be on the right.
MAPS

The following maps are provided by an external service at http://www.streetmap.co.uk/
On each map, the camp site is pinpointed by an arrow. Use the arrows around the edge of the map to scroll around. Note: If you have a 28800 baud modem or slower, put the kettle on now ;-)

Ordnance Survey Map (shows a space 2.5km. in each direction from the camp)

The red road which runs across the top and down, exiting right, is the A6 (TransPeak bus route); the "Hotel" identified at top centre is where you get off. The yellow road going down, past the "Mill" and the crossroads at the intersection of four grid squares with a telephone, is the road which runs to the site and on to Stanton Lees.

Road map (shows a space 15km. in each direction from the camp)

The M1 runs east of Chesterfield, so it is just off the edge of this map.

If you have found your way to the site from some other place, please email any notes you have taken to nineladies@zoom.co.uk in order that we can add your directions to the list!
