Well, I said I'd never do it and I just have! I am now a two Maestro VP family. I read on the Maestro Owners' Club Classifieds page that there was a 47k 1983 Zircon blue Maestro VP for sale so I emailed the owners saying not to scrap the car if it didn't sell. Turns out that it didn't and it became mine a month or so later.
This car couldn't have arrived at a better time because I can drive it while F153 is being rebuilt. When my other Maestro is back on the road I'm going to begin a sympathetic restoration of A335 BWV, during which I intend to teach myself to weld and do other car body-related things. She's already had a couple of new tyres and rear brake service for the MOT.
Here are some pictures for you to enjoy before anything is done to her, although I did give her a quick vacuum and wash.
So far the list of defects includes:
Headlining sagging
Corrosion to rear wheel arches
Slight coolant seepage at the head gasket
Driver's door mirror adjustment broken
Trip computer/Fuel flow ECU not working
Driver's electric window won't shift
Very rough idling when on choke
Failure to restart when warm
Frayed accelerator cable
General paint issues
Broken Glovebox
I shall keep her progress updated on this page so look back for updates.
