End of Season Report - Sunday 2nd XI - 2003

 

2003 was a very successful season for the Sunday 2nd XI, with 4 wins, 5 draws, 5 losses and 2 cancellations out of the sixteen games that  were arranged. 39 players in all were used 18 of which were colts, compared to only 11 colts last year. There was a good atmosphere throughout the season, with competition for places, such that the Captain had to drop himself from 7 out of the 14 games. This bodes well for next season and the club in general.

 

There were numerous outstanding performances with the bat, with Ian Miller (103), Ronak Patel (115), and Nick Patel (103) all scoring not out maiden centuries. In fact Ian Miller (103 & 105) score not out centuries in both games he played. As well as the maiden centuries there were 5 maiden half centuries by Jamie Goodwin (54), Kevin Miller (73 not out), Ian Munday (50), Keith Rodger (60) and Samin Patel (50). In all there were 16 scores and 17 partnerships of 50 or more during the season . Ronak Patel as well as scoring his maiden century, made 248 runs in 5 innings at an average of 62, while Jamie Goodwin, Robert Anderson, Ian Munday, Keith Rodger, Richard Peareth and Jason Hiscox all had averages in the 20s.

 

On the bowling front there were again some good performances, with the best being from Robert Anderson (16 wickets), Jason Hiscox (11 wickets), Matthew Wright ( 8 wickets) and Maurice Knight ( 9 wickets).  With Robert taking his at an average of 18.44 and Jason  his at an average of 17.45. There were also good one off performances from Chris Vagg, Ben Anderson and Vipesh Mistry.
