There are lots of things to do in Torquay and its' many villages. Pavement cafes, pubs, shops, restaurants, nightlife and various family attractions are in plentiful supply in this town. You will find palm lined promenades, scenic gardens and lots of coastal walks.
The town has most major high street stores, banks and building societies as well as souvenir and gift shops. It is served well by public transport with local buses and trains running at regular intervals.
Torre Abbey is Torquay's oldest building and houses a wonderful collection of paintings and antiques. The Agatha Christie memorial room is worth visiting to discover the history behind the famous crime writer. Torquay has a museum taking you through the history of Torquay's colourful past with information about local wildlife and famous people. A visit to the museum is incomplete without a visit to the unique Agatha Christie exhibition. In contrast The Riviera Centre provides an exciting fun pool, flume ride and wave machine. You will also find here a fully equipped gymnasium, sauna, restaurants and bars.
You need not cook whilst holidaying in Torquay as there are plenty of places to eat out in the town. The wide variety of restaurants serving excellent cuisine from across the world - English, American, Italian, Mexican, French, Indian, Greek, Thai and Cantonese just to mention a few. You will also find tea rooms serving Devon's famous cream teas!!
Once the sun has gone down there is the nightlife scene in Torquay to sample. Torquay has one of the most lively nightclub scenes in the South West attracting revellers from across the region.
If you love going to the Theatre, Torquay and its' surrounding villages is the place to be with a great selection of theatres available. These include Princess Theatre, The Riviera Centre, Babbacombe Theatre and the TOADS theatre on Meadfoot.
At Babbacombe Pottery you can witness the potters skills and chose from a large range of pottery produced on site. Babbacombe is also the home of the famous Model Village, one of Britain's best loved attractions.
