"Sauce for the Goose"

A fast and furious French farce by Georges Feydeau.

Performed at Oldland Village Club from Wednesday 8 October to Saturday 11 October 2003.

This production marked the end of an era for the Oldland Players, as the last play to be directed by our longstanding member, Graham Bradshaw.

When Graham died a week before curtain up, in June 2003, our first thought was 'the show must go on'. But we all agreed that Graham was too much a part of our lives to just stand and repeat the lines and walk the stage. We therefore cancelled the original production and rescheduled for October. Graham would never have wanted our audience not to receive his very best.

With his usual flair for the innovative, Graham set the scene for this hysterical bedroom farce in the 1920s using a non conventional set which merely suggests the setting. The doors were to be mimed with the Sound Technician clearly on show working the door and bell sounds.

We were very fortunate to have an offer of help from Graham's long time friend, David Brierley. As a professional actor his presence at the final week of rehearsals helped the cast enormously.
