December 31, Prince is rumoured to have gotten married to girlfriend and Paisley Park employee, Manuella Testolini, his girlfriend for the last 4 or 5 years, now the story goes that the 24 year old started as a fan in the crowd at shows, then she got on the Paisley Park staff and then became his girlfriend... This is the second try for the 43 year old of walking down the aisle, according to the buzz everything is cool between the ex's and Prince even called Mayte to tell her the good news.

October 17, October brings the long-awaited download of the controversial new album from Prince,
'The Rainbow Children'. Premium Members of the NPG Music Club will be able
to download a preview release of the entire new album.

September 30, The Very Best Of Prince is awarded gold disc status after selling at least 100,000 copies in the UK.
September 14, Steven Joseph Fargnoli (1949-2001), Producer of the movie Purple Rain, which propelled Prince into superstardom, died from a two-year battle with cancer, aged 52. www.stevefargnoli.com.

August 25, John L. Nelson (1916-2001), Prince's father died, aged 85.
August 5, The Very Best Of Prince enters the UK Top 75 Album Chart at Number 2, the Highest New Entry.
The last time Prince was this high in the UK Album Chart was in August 1994 with the Number 1 album, Come.

June 11 - 17, Prince: A Celebration went underway at Paisley Park , a week-long event
with guest artists such as Erykah Badu, Nikka Costa, Alicia Keys, The Time and 2 full concerts from Prince himself.
Also several listening sessions were held for the new album 'The Rainbow Children' and discussions held afterwards between Prince and fans in person.
MAY 2001
Prince is said to have been studying the scriptures of the Jehovah's Witnesses but is as yet an
unpublished member of the cult.
