Tara's Ex

by  Wonko

"Look," Tara began. "I know I said we'd stay friends but you're becoming more than a little obsessive."

"Obsessive?!" the other girl exclaimed, putting a hand over her heart in a mockery of horror. "I am no such thing!"

Tara sighed. She hated having conversations like these with her ex. No-matter what she started out trying to say, her ex always managed to talk her round to her point of view. It was probably some kind of emapathic mind control or something. Tara wouldn't put it past her ex - she was a demon after all.

"You're living with me! You don't call that obsessive?"

"I'm just looking out for you, kid. I know your type. You got that shy stuttery thing going on, you fall for the first pretty girl that shows any interest in you and then you get hurt."

"I can look after myself. And besides, It's not like that with me and Willow. We...l-love each other."

Tara's ex merely raised her eyebrow.  Tara was sure she was starting that empathic mind control thing again.

The night her ex came back Tara nearly had a heart attack.  She'd just got back from the grocery store and there she was, waiting in her room.  Of course, since luck was clearly not with Tara right then, Willow chose that moment to come over.  Tara's ex had obligingly concealed herself as a vase of flowers.  You see, Tara's ex was a shapeshifting demon.

It turned out that Willow wnated to do a demon locator spell.  Of course Tara couldn't let the spell work or she'd have to explain to the girl with whom she was rapidly falling in love why her demon ex-lover was still hanging around, and in her room to boot.  So Tara deliberately botched the spell.  After Willow left Tara's bad luck streak continued when her ex morphed into her human form and announced she'd be sticking around to oversee this Willow situation.  Tara knew it was just an excuse - and a flimsy one at that - but what could she say?  You don't want to piss a demon off, even the non-malevolant ones.  Besides, it wasn't like she'd have been able to stop her.

And now Tara had just discovered what form her ex had taken and she was more than a little angry.

"I guess now I understand why Willow and I are always being interrupted when we're...uh...you know."

Tara's ex put on her most innocent face.

"Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about!"

"Okay, okay!  I'll give you a bit more space.  Sheesh, I'm only doing this because I care about you kid."

Tara looked at her ex for a moment and was sucked in yet again by the forlorn look in her eyes and her quivering bottom lip.

"Okay, but this can't go on much longer."

Tara's ex lit up immediately.

"Now, Willow's coming over in a minute so I want you in your corner and don't cause trouble!"

Tara's ex gave a cocky salute and morphed into her current form.

A couple of minutes later Willow breezed into the room and kissed her girlfriend in greeting.  Then she turned and scooped Miss Kitty Fantastico into her arms.

"And how's my favourite kitty?" she teased, tickling the cat under the chin.  She didn't notice when the kittne looked over at Tara and did the kitty equivelant of a raising an eyebrow.

Behind them Tara watched with a sense of utter frustration.  What was she supposed to do now that her girlfriend and her ex were completely inseperable?
