The IndyCycle was created by Jamieson G Durette in the late 1990's. (USA). The vehicle was initially created as a prototype vehicle
simply named "Vehicle" to test a theory Durette had for a vehicle with two wheels at the front and one to the rear. Durette, who at the time was a teacher at Pittsylvania County Schools (USA) spent
several years designing the prototype and drove it around for two years before the vehicle entered its final phase shortly after Durette moved to Baltimore.
The Vehicle was rebuilt and modified to closely match Durette's original intent of building an IndyCycle. (A car that was half
Indy car and half motorcycle.) After many modifications the Vehicle became the IndyCycle in late 1999. The body of the IndyCycle is a custom made fibreglass upper unit that is hand-laid over a front
shell made of laminated wood strips with a rear shell formed from Polyisocyanurate panels with additional aluminium side panels. Power comes from a 1987 Suzuki GSXR 750cc motorcycle engine which combined
with an ultra light body gives the IndyCycle exceptional performance with a top speed in excess of 150 mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.2 seconds.
