    The Beeston Motette was manufactured at Coventry (UK) in 1898.  The Motette was a "car version" of their earlier motorised tricycle that had been produced since 1896. It was powered by a 1.5 hp "Electric Spark Motor" , this being: "a petrol motor developing from 0.7 to 1.5 horse power, the charge in which is ignited by an electric spark."  This had three speeds of 5, 15 and 20 mph. The price for the Motette was 160 Guineas.
