MAYORS COFFEE MORNING in the Town Hall arranged by Downham Wives Club. An opportunity, as if there haven’t been enough throughout the week, for you to meet and talk to the Town Mayor and some members of the Town Council in an informal atmosphere. The Mayor, Mike Coles, will address the gathered company at about 11am. The Downham Wives Club will be organising a raffle during the morning. JUNIOR DISCO at the Howdale Centre. Bexwell Pre-School Nursery are arranging this new event for the 2001 Festival. The Disco is for all children aged 3 to 7 years and admission is £3 per ticket. Tickets are available from Pauline (01366) 388925 or Nicola (01366) 385380. Please make sure that you get your tickets in plenty of time as there are only a limited number available. It will be quite an experience to watch the kids “strut their stuff”. What a place to have a video camera! FESTIVAL ART EXHIBITION in the Assembly Room, Downham Market Town Hall. Take a break from your market shopping to see this exhibition which has over one hundred paintings by members of Downham Art Circle. Nearly all of the works of art will be for sale. Admission is free. The Collectors World at HERMITAGE HALL is open again today and there is a special offer of 50p discount on the admission price for all who carry a copy of the Festival Programme when they visit. (One discount per programme.) “STATELY HOMES and GARDENS of EAST ANGLIA”. A film and talk by National Trust speaker Mrs Anita Carpenter presented by J. A. Leisure at St Edmund’s Church Hall. Tickets priced £2.50 (including soft drink and biscuits) can be obtained from Downham Information Centre at the Priory Centre (01366) 387440 or from Jill Armsby, 12 Paradise Road, Downham Market (01366) 383864. A raffle will be held. All monies, after expenses, for St Edmund’s Church funds. JAZZ and CABARET EVENING. Downham Market Lions Club invites you to the Town Hall to enjoy an evening of varied entertainment. The music will be supplied by Freddie and Friends New Orleans Jazz Band. As the name suggests the jazz will be of the traditional New Orleans and Dixieland style. Gus Wilson will present the cabaret part of the evening. Gus is a well-known local entertainer who will entertain with a set of comedy and magic. The evening will be suitable for the whole family and a licensed bar has been applied for. Tea and coffee will also be available throughout the evening. Proceeds, after expenses, from this event will go the Downham Market Lions Club Spring appeal, raising funds for Diabetes UK.
