DERT is the annual UK rapper sword dance competition. Rapper sword dance is a traditional miners'dance form from the Newcastle Area. The dance is performed using a short two handed flexible sword, which is held so that each dancer is joined in a ring. Complex figures are worked without letting go of the swords. This will be the first time that DERT has been held in Scotland.
