Constitution
Dalry Dance Club The
aim of the Dalry Dance Club is for self improvement on what we
have already been taught.
- To promote dancing
in general
Membership of the
DDC shall be open to anyone with an interest in improving
there dancing
Composition
- The
Committee of the DDC shall consist of a minimum
of:
- A
Chair
- A
Vice Chair
- A
Treasurer
- Each
member of the Committee shall only be
elected by the membership of the DDC at
the AGM
- Duties of
Committee members
- The
Chair shall act as Chairperson at all
committee meetings and at the Annual
General Meeting (AGM)
- The
Vice Chair shall deputise for the Chair
in their absence
- The
Chair shall retain overall responsibility
for the club and its administration. The
Chair shall have authority to make a
major policy decision only with the prior
approval of the majority of the total
Committee, except where this is
impossible
- The
Treasurer shall be responsible for:
- Carrying out the
financial transactions of the
Club,
- Recording the
Club's financial transactions
- Providing
accurate advice to the Committee
regarding the financial position

- Annual General
Meeting (AGM)
- The
AGM shall be held each
year in accordance with
DDC's constitution
- At least
one week prior notice to
an AGM shall be given
- DDC
elections shall take
place at the AGM for the
positions listed above
- Each DDC
member (except the Chair)
who is an Ordinary Member
of DDC may cast one [1]
vote, which shall be
counted by single
transferable vote, for
each position listed
above. In order to
register this vote, the
member must be present at
the AGM or register a
(confidential) proxy vote
with the Chair at least
24 hours in advance. In
the event of a tie, the
Chair shall have the
option of one casting
vote
- Committee
Meetings
- The
quorum of the Committee
shall be the majority of
the total Committee
- The
Committee shall meet at
its own discretion
- The
conduct of the Committee
meetings shall be at the
discretion of the Chair
- All items
for committee meetings
shall be emailed/mailed
to the chair and copied
to the vice-chair by 12pm
on the day that a meeting
is taking place
- All
committee members shall
present apologies within
twenty four [24] hours of
the meeting if they were
unable to attend
- Minutes
will be accepted at the
following meeting and all
points will be checked to
see if they have been
actioned by the
appropriate committee
member
- Each
member of the Committee
shall have speaking
rights at all meetings
- A
decision shall be carried
by a majority vote
- DDC
members (who are Ordinary
Members) shall be allowed
to attend Committee
meetings
- DDC
members (who are Ordinary
Members of DDC) shall
have neither speaking nor
voting rights at any
meeting
- The
Committee shall grant all
DDC members (who are
Ordinary Members of BUSU)
speaking rights when
appropriate
- DDC
members (who are not
Ordinary Members of DDC)
shall be allowed to
attend Committee meetings
on invitation by the
Committee
- Committee
meetings shall be closed
where deemed appropriate
- Committee Changes
- A
Committee member may be
expelled from the
Committee provided that
at least two thirds of
the whole Executive
Committee are in favour
of the motion and that
all positions of the
Executive Committee are
in attendance at the
meeting
- A vote to
expel a Committee member
shall be secret
- In the
event of a member of the
Committee resigning, an
Election shall be held at
the earliest opportunity
- Alterations to
the Constitution
- The
Committee shall vote upon
any alterations or
additions to the
Constitution on two
separate occasions
- Equal
Opportunities
- The DDC
shall adopt the Equal
Opportunities Policy
- The
members of the Committee
shall be responsible for
overseeing that Equal
Opportunities are being
practised
- The DDC
shall aim to create a
safe space environment
(where all members of the
DDC shall be treated
equally regardless of
gender, ethnic, national
or regional origin,
disability, mental health
or medical condition,
age, political or
religious beliefs and
affiliations, family
circumstances or marital
status, caring
responsibilities, sexual
preference, class,
socio-economic background
or any other irrelevant
distinction). This list
is not meant to be
exhaustive
- The DDC
shall aim to create an
environment in which all
individuals and groups
are free to partake in
activities and are free
from discrimination,
harassment and
intimidation in all its
events
- Anyone
violating DDC's Equal
Opportunities Policy will
be warned and may have
his or her membership of
the DDC revoked by the
Committee.
