• Lincolnshire Branch of the British Horological Institute - talks on clocks and time and many associated subjects, often of general interest, visitors welcome. Most meetings at Birchwood Leisure Centre which is easy to get to and has good facilities.

• The Mary Gordon Electric Boat. The oldest electric boat now awaiting restoration at the Pyewipe, Lincoln.

• Friends of Lincoln Archaeology Research and Education. Meets usually 19.30 at St.Hugh's Church, Monks Road - which usefully has its own car park down the side on opposite side of road to Unity Square and the Vet.

  As well as monthly meetings has outings and trips.

• The Society for Lincolnshire History and Archaeology. This is based in historic Jews Court where it also has has a shop with local history books and information. A few meetings held there - others in Spalding and other places. Not so easy to get to now the car parks have disappeared under the new museum. Some day seminars arranged in places like the University of Lincoln.

• Engineering. Meetings usually at the Rustons Leisure centre, Newark Road, near the Forum. Sometimes Cranwell. Often interesting.
  The separate Lincoln Engineering Society does not have a website.

• Whisby. Not to be confused with the garden centre and zoo which is opposite the hotels. This is down the next turning on the right coming from Lincoln on the A46. It has a nice centre with a restaurant with terrace facing the lake - good enough for weddings. A shop with rocks and natural jewellry etc. Exhibitions and things for educating the young. And concerts and other events here. Good size carpark. Walks around lakes.

• Hartsholme Park. It is a shame that the original house was demolished and only a bit of the outhouses preserved. It would have been a grand example of a late Victorian mansion with its own gas works and electric power station. It was left to local school children to do a project on the history. You can find this in the small visitors centre. They have events like moth nights. The park also includes a bit round the lakes near Doddington Road which was left wild for years and people used to trample through the fence to walk round - it was very nice then with birch trees, magic mushrooms and sandy beaches. Now all developed and the quick route to the Swanholme blocked. Popular for local walks - full of walking families on Sundays. Now has a cafe and slightly improved toilets. (If you are desperate). Both cafe and loos need improving. Also caravan park here with facilities. The mini zoo has gone because of vandals. Small play centre for tots. Not very safe for them though. Hang on to tots near the lakes while they are feeding the ducks and geese. Many bugs here - they actually breed dragon flies. Lots of squirrels. Other bits of park in Birchwood/Doddington Park as well.
