This site, which is the first Local Society mencap site in Northern Ireland to go live, has had over 800 visitors. We would be pleased to hear your comments. Also , we would be grateful to receive your support by way of attendance at some of our meetings to hear the range of issues covered or by volunteering at our Junior and Senior Gateway Clubs.
Vehicle VAT refund. Do you know that if you need to buy a vehicle with an adaption for disabled people then as advised by BBC's Working Lunch programme, the Disabled Drivers Association and Customs and Excise inform us that you can claim back the VAT on this new vehicle. History
Carrickfergus Mencap was formed more than 30 years ago with the aim of campaigning for and supporting children and adults in this part of County Antrim, Northern Ireland covering from Jordanstown north of Belfast to beyond the Port of Larne and Westwards including Ballyclare.
About 8 years ago the Parents Association of Hawthorns Adult Centre, Carrickfergus joined forces with Carrickfergus Mencap to form a powerful lobbying force in the area.
Carrickfergus Mencap have direct links to the Northern District Committee of Mencap and hence to Mencap, Segal House in Belfast and also to Mencap, London.
Monthly Meetings
We meet every fourth Monday of each month, except July and August and December, at 8 pm at the Carrickfergus Day Centre in Taylor's Avenue ( driveway just opposite Carrick Rangers Football Club). -------Everyone welcome.
